The Stage Is Yours! (ESC Diary 05/2016)

The ESC 2016 stage! - (c) SVT
This past week we had some decisions and many semi-finals! Today we also got the official stage design for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016! This and more you'll find in my fifth edition of the ESC Diary :)

To begin with the most recent, as seen above, the stage design was presented today by the swedish broadcaster SVT!

The stage was designed by the same persons as in Malmö 2013. This year the artists can interact with the LED-screen in the background by, for example, be in it. The stage will creat illusions of unlimited depth.

Looks definetly like a stage with a lot of possibilities. It's always hard to say something to the stage based on pictures... think we have to wait till we see the first videos with the stage in action in May.

But wait... here is an animated video of the stage! What do you think?

When we get to the winners of the weekend we need to talk about Denmark! LighthouseX won in Denmark with their song "Soldiers Of Love"!

They were my favorites in the danish selection, but they were not the favorite and even the odds were not that good for them, so my hopes were kinda small... So I'm waaaaay happier now, that they won! I barely could sleep the night after the national final as I still was so excited and happy :D <3

Denmark is now in at the top of my ESC 2016 ranking at the moment together with Ireland! Love these two and it's already sooo hard to decide ^.^ But as far as my favorites win I love these problems :D

Right after there victory I found myslef dancing and clapping infront of my computer while Lighthouse X performed their winning song again! <3

I'm still so happy!!! GO DENMARK! <3 What do you think?

Zoe - (c) ORF

Another surprise came from Austria! But not that an underdog won, but that they actually selected and amazing entry through a NATIONAL FINAL!!! Can't remember the last time Austria managed to do this :D  They are usually, like Germany, not the best when it's about televoting ;D #RememberLastYear?

This year they selected Zoe! Her song was the only song I heard before the national final and I sooooo loved it! So I'm very happy they selected her! When I showed the performance of her in the national final to my mom she totally loved it and almost started to cry, because she was so touched by Zoe's singing and by the song! So congrats, Austria! You've made the right decision and best of luck for ESC! See ya in the final!

Switzerland also decided, that Rykka will represent them in Eurovision. I have no idea how this will end up. I think it's different and has a catchy chorus, but I don't know how this will work on stage. But think the ESC stage will make great light effects for it :D

Check out her performance and tell me what do you think?

As always we also need to talk about Sweden! Last saturday the second semi-final took place in Malmö and it wasn't exactly the result I hoped for, but I'm still very happy, that at least one of my favorites made it to the final.

We need to mention two of the artists, that were totally amazing in #Melfest, but didn't made it to the final last saturday...

Our top favorite Krista Siegfrids and her song "Faller" cam 5th last saturday and are out of the competition, sadly :( She was absolutely amazing on stage and her song is catchy as hell <3 She was full of positiv energy (as always (that's why I love her so much)), but as she was new to the swedish audience she only made it to the 5th place. Which is still amazing, when you're in #Melfest for the first time! I'm pretty sure, that she'll come back to slay <3

Check out her performance:

The huge favorite of the semi-final, Isa, had a great song and a huuuuuge performance! Surprisingly she only made it to the second chance round! But as mentioned in our first #Melfest post, Robin made it in 2013 only to the second chance round, but then won in the final! So still count Isa in as a little favorite :) Her performance was stunning! Maybe everybody was watching the performance and forgot to vote 5 times for free though the app^^ We'll see what happens in the second chance round :)

Check out her performance ->

Some other news -> In Latvia my favorites are in the next round, Alda is in the final in Iceland, but I think in the final it's all about Greta (I'm still open for surprises ;)). Italy finished their Sanremo festival, but the winner don't wanted to go to Eurovision, so the second place will be performing at ESC. We'll get back at Italy, when they have choosen the song they want to perform in Stockholm!

That were the highlights of the last week! So much Eurovision stuff to come up in the next weeks!!! Get excited, guys <3

Next week we have to talk about the songs from Georgia, Bosnia, Iceland, Ukraine and mooore :)

Have a great week

xoxo
