Hey guys! This is finally the part, why this blog is named the way it is.

In this series of posts I'll try to give you a picture of my Eurovision world and what I think and care about.



First, I'm Dominik aka Eurovision Dude, I'm 23 yo and live in Germany. My first ESC was back in 2003 when I was 11 and my parents just wanted to show me the show, because I was addicted to "the lights" since I was very young. But they didn't expected, that I would sooooo fall in love with the whole show. We recorded the show and I watched the show allll over again and again and again that year. This was the start of a live-changing experience!

My first Eurovision I could see live was in 2011 and I was there every year since then except for 2012. So 2016 will be my 5th time and it's always the time of the year for me. I meet so many amazing people there and from year to year they get more :D

There will be more ESC Diary entries, where I will get more into detail, but in this first edition I want to write a bit about the start of the 2016 season!


As usuall the first country to select its entry was Albania! This year was the first time, that I checked a bit of the end of the show. TBH I don't pay too much attention to the albanian entry when they selected it, because they always translate it and the do a new version of the song for Eurovision which sounds totally different from the selected song and way better :D So I listen to it one time and then I wait for the final version.

I didn't expected that, but the second country to annouce their entry was Ireland. They send the well known singer and former Westlife member Nicky Byrne! And they also presented the song the past week, which is a super hot candidate for a perfect result in 4 months!

With some artists that were already announced for some countries this ESC season, really sounds great so far while most of the entries still have to be selected or presented!

The next country to select their entry is Belgium tonight! After an amazing place in 2015 with Mr. Nottet they try to get an at least equal place in 2016. After listening to the songs I can say, that this won't happen in 2016. The songs are good, but not special enough for a good place. For me the best song + best singer is Tom in the national final. We'll see who will win and will represent Belgium in the 2016 ESC.

Coming to Germany, we have finally the names for the national final. Not all the songs are released, but I'll do a review before the show when all the songs are released. The names are more or less all not well known here, but Jamie-Lee wom the last edition of "The Voice Of Germany" with her Eurovision entry "Ghost". So she might be the person to beat in the national final.
